"To live a healthier, passionate, and purposeful life."
In an effort to bridge the gap between African-American youth and law enforcement, Operation Save Our Sons created Bridging the Gap. A pilot program to increase safety and positivity in order to help decrease crime within urban communities, allow police shootings related to African American males to decline, and to increase interest among African American youth as it relates to JSO as a career opportunity.
BRIDGING THE GAP (BTG) PROGRAM GOALS
-
Operation Save Our Sons will educate 80% or more of the law enforcement officers on the unique issues facing African American men, ages 18-35, as well as the program’s participants to identify biases that influence their interaction with each other.
-
OSOS will provide three sessions for a healthy dialogue between 15 of the program’s participants and 15 law enforcement officers per engagement.
-
BTG will partner with the law enforcement officers to train the program’s participants to interact with law enforcement officers positively and effectively in diverse settings.
-
OSOS will identify three dynamics that perpetuate violent crime among black males.
-
The organization will create mentor-ships for all program participants and available law enforcement officers.
-
Lastly, Operation Save Our Sons will provide an ambassador program for program participants that may result in future employment in law enforcement.
Our Partners
Operation Save Our Sons’ primary goal is to educate. In educating our future leaders we intend to increase promotion and graduation rates in each city that we are invested in.
